Abstract
The growth of tarekat in Islam actually coincided with the birth of the Islamic religion itself, namely since the Prophet Muhammad SAW was sent as an Apostle. Historical facts show that the person of the Prophet Muhammad SAW, before being appointed as an Apostle, had repeatedly committed nust and seclusion in the Hira' cave in addition to isolating himself from the people of Makkah who were drunk following worldly desires. Tahhanust and Seclusion of the Prophet are to seek peace of mind and cleanliness of heart in dealing with the complex problems of the world.
Qadiriyyah is the first order in Sufism, as in the lineage of the Qadiriyah order which refers to Ali and Abdul Qadir al-Jailani and so on is from the Prophet Muhammad SAW, from the Angel Gabriel and from Allah SWT. Previously what developed were small groups as followers of spiritual teachers called thaifah (plural: thawaif). Together with Abdul Qadir al-Jailani, a tradition developed among Sufism to anchor spiritual doctrine and methods as its formulator, whereas in the previous period, Sufi figures directly viewed the Prophet Muhammad SAW as the founder, and viewed spiritual teachers or leaders as representatives of the Prophet Muhammad.
