EFFECTIVENESS OF LEADERSHIP TRAINING PROGRAMS FOR ISLAMIC EDUCATION MANAGERS: A CASE STUDY IN AN ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY

Abstract

The leadership of a leaderdetermines the welfare of educational actors, leadership innovation becomes a command to achieve all the goals in the educational environment. In this study, researchers focused on: (i) characteristics of leadership innovation in Private Islamic Religious Universities (PTKIS); (ii) supporting  and  inhibiting  factors  in  conducting  leadership  innovation  in  Private  Islamic  Religious Universities (PTKIS). The type of research used is qualitative research that combines library research and case studies. In the data collection technique, researchers analysed various sources of information and documentation in journals, books and other literature sources and the case study method involved direct  observation  of  conditions  at  the  research  location.  Then  to  check  the  validity  of  the  data, researchers  used  two  methods, namely:  triangulation  and  discussion  with peers.  The  results  showedthat the characteristics of leadership innovation are being able to present a strategic vision, oriented to the needs of stakeholders, having trust between stakeholders, having high loyalty, being open and inspiring.  Supporting  and  inhibiting  factors  suchas  the  ability  of  leaders  in  managing  PTKIS  and having patience in dealing with various characteristics of lecturers and employees can be taken into consideration to carry out leadership innovation in the PTKIS environment itself.
