Abstract

This study aims to explore the implementation of narrative-based learning in Arabic language teaching to enhance linguistic competence and student learning motivation. Using a mixed-methods approach with an experimental design, the research involved 180 students from three Islamic higher education institutions. Research instruments included language proficiency tests, motivation questionnaires, interviews, and observations. Research results showed a significant increase in Arabic language competence in the experimental group, with an average score improvement of 42.6% compared to 17.3% in the control group. Statistical analysis revealed a p-value < 0.001, indicating the effectiveness of narrative-based learning. Research findings demonstrate that narrative approaches can transform learning experiences, increase intrinsic motivation, and develop sociolinguistic contextual understanding. This study offers an innovative and comprehensive pedagogical model in Arabic language education that is contextually grounded.
