Abstract

The Freedom to learn (Meredeka Belajar) was issued by the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia, Nadiem Anwar Makarim. The policy aims to improve the competence of graduates, both soft skills and hard skills, to be more prepared and relevant to the needs of the times. This view can be realized based of the theory of constructivism education, even in the world of Islamic education itself, many figures have explicitly and implicitly conceived in his writings. The method used is library research, while the data analysis technique is content analysis. From this scientific study, it was concluded that the classical Islamic education figure, al Zarnuji, known as his book ta'lim muta'alim, mentioned the mudzakarah, munadharah and mutharahah methods and Ibn Khaldun with his Muqadimah book Ibn Khaldun discussed the acquisition of knowledge and methods of rihlah and tadrib.
