Abstract

This study examines Al-Ghazali's critique of the thought of philosophers within the Islamic intellectual tradition. This study is motivated by the differences between the rational approaches of philosophers, such as Ibn Sina and Al-Farabi, and the theological approach that places revelation as the primary authority. The study uses qualitative methods with literature studies, and is analyzed descriptively-analytical and comparatively. The results show that Al-Ghazali's critique is mixed, not a total rejection of philosophy. He accepts logic and mathematics, but rejects aspects of metaphysics that contradict Islamic teachings, particularly those related to the eternity of nature, God's knowledge of certain things, and physical resurrection. Furthermore, Al-Ghazali affirms revelation as the ultimate source of truth without neglecting reason and intuition, and contributes to strengthening the position of theology in Islamic thought.
