Abstract

 Abstract

The crisis that is currently hitting the world originates from the tendency of people's behavior to deify reason without any balance between spirituality, morality and rationality. This dominance of rationalism makes it the main pillar of the scientific method. This is very visible in human analysis and attitudes towards various realities, both social, individual and even religious. The dominance of reasoning has also shifted spiritual-transcendental needs, which has resulted in the development of a materialistic-atheistic culture which uproots the roots of morality-humanity, leading to a civilization that has lost equilibrium (the balance between rationality and morality).

It was in an atmosphere like this that the idea of Islamization of science emerged as an alternative paradigm, replacing the modern western scientific paradigm. The Islamization of science in Arabic is termed Islamiyyat al-ma'rifah, and in English it is known as the Islamization of knowledge. From these terms, what needs to be emphasized here is that the words 'Islam' and 'science' (knowledge) refer to what meaning? This is important, because Islamic science discourse in its development often experiences a blur of meaning, this is due to the lack of clarity or dissimilarity in the definitions used for science and Islam itself. According to Osman Bakar, the different definitions of Islam and science by its initiators became the starting point for the various forms of ideas regarding Islamic science. Which Islam or part of Islam is related to science? And what kind of science needs to be Islamized?
